Our friendly, experienced and professional teachers and academic team are committed to providing you with the help and support you need to improve your English and reach your target level. We want to help all our students to progress from one level to the next each term. If you are willing to work hard, our teachers will help you to move up to the next class or prepare for a formal qualification.

Progress Planner

You can use our Progress Planner to work out where you currently are and where you want to be. You can also check which IELTS scores and Cambridge qualifications (FCE or CAE) correspond to the Common European Framework Levels.

Progression

Most students progress by one level each term. Teachers regularly talk to each student about their progress and they offer lots of advice on how to improve. Progression through the different levels depends on:

  • Assessment results and homework
  • Improvement shown in class
  • Class participation and attendance.

Your Learning Journey at Celtic

Your First Week

We give all our students a placement test and speaking test with a member of the academic team on their first day at Celtic. This helps us make sure that all our students are in the most suitable class for their level of English at the start of their English language journey.

Your First Week

Classes at Celtic

All our students are expected to participate fully in classes, complete all homework and maintain a high level of attendance (minimum 80%), in order to get the most from the course. We also provide our students with weekly tests, regular reports and assessed portfolio work.

Your Classes

Progress at Celtic

All students have to take mid and end-of-term tests. The results of these tests help us to decide if you should progress to the next level. Students should achieve a minimum of 70% in tests and have a minimum of 80% attendance throughout the course to progress to the next level.

Tutorials at Celtic

After each mid and end-of-term test, each student will receive an individual tutorial. In your tutorial, your teacher will provide you with personal guidance on how you can improve your English.
