We take extra care of under 18s while they study English with us overseas.

We take care of all our students, but we take extra care of our younger students. Our staff understand that it may be their first time abroad to study English in another country. Parents and guardians can be reassured that we genuinely care about our students’ safety and well-being. Celtic is, after all, one big family. We have dedicated safeguarding officers to ensure we look after our under 18 students.

Here are some of the things we do to ensure the safety and well-being of our under 18 students:

  • All our staff receive training to work with under 18s.

  • It is compulsory for all under 18 students to book an airport transfer with us. One of our drivers will meet under 18s at the airport terminal upon arrival to safely bring them to Cardiff.

  • In Cardiff, all under 18 students have to stay with a local homestay provider.

  • We DBS and/ or police check all our staff.

  • We DBS check all of our homestay providers who provide homestay accommodation for under 18 students.

  • Our emergency number means that under 18s can contact a member of the team 24 hours a day.

  • We have enhanced attendance reporting procedures for under 18 students.

  • We have trained first-aiders who can deal with any emergencies.

In addition, our safety measures in our Junior Summer Programme in Monmouth include:

  • Entry to our residence is by secure key-card.

  • Male and female students are placed in separate flats.

  • We have members of staff on-call during the night time to deal with any emergencies.

  • There is a security team at Monmouth School who look after security on site.

  • Students are accompanied to and from class as well as on excursions and activities.

  • We have members of staff available during class times to deal with any problems.

  • Students have wristbands and cards with emergency contact details on.

  • If a student needs medical assistance, they’re always accompanied by a member of staff.
