What I like about online teaching by April.

In this blog one of our teachers, April, tells us what she likes most about online teaching.

Feeling more connected

My colleagues and I make use of WhatsApp to support each other, ask tech questions and share ideas during breaks. It’s wonderful being part of such a collaborative working environment.

Breakout Rooms

The Zoom platform allows me to assign a few students to their own private room where they can discuss ideas and practise their English. I love this feature because it provides a safe space for shy or nervous students to communicate without everyone else listening in.

Having a closer relationship with my students

I sometimes teach Ladies Only classes. When the ladies came to school, for religious reasons, many often covered their faces which could make communication difficult. Online, however, the ladies are in the comfort of their own homes, so they feel a lot more relaxed and have no need to cover. I’m really enjoying this closer connection with them and I think it’s true – the more relaxed we are, the easier we learn!
