Things to do in Cardiff: The Doctor Who Experience

If you’re a Doctor Who fan, you will need to put this on your list of things to do while you are staying in Cardiff to study English abroad. The Doctor Who Experience has just opened and it looks like a lot of fun! Part museum, part adventure, this experience even features specially filmed sequences with the eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith. One day you could be studying hard in your English lesson, and the next you could be flying the Tardis and battling Cybermen!

You get the chance to help the Doctor fight off his enemies, armed with a Sonic Screwdriver. You can fly the Tardis to help him save the universe once more. Featuring as many special effects as you would expect from Doctor Who, this is a multi-sensory experience, and you get to actually take part. This is not the kind of experience you sit and watch in comfort!

In the exhibition section of the venue, you can see how Daleks have changed through time, all the different incarnations of the Doctor and his companions, as well as a whole host of aliens, both friendly and otherwise! There is also a huge collection of original props from the whole series (i.e. right from the first show back in 1963), and information about how the special effects are achieved.
