NCUK Pre-Master’s Programme FAQs

Answers to some of the questions you may have about our NCUK Pre-Master’s Programme.

When does the course start?

The course starts on Tuesday 26th May 2020.

What level of English do I need to join?

You should have the equivalent of IELTS 5.5 to join the course.

I don’t have an IELTS certificate which shows my level of English, what can I do?

Contact us, we can arrange for you to take an online test to assess your level of English.

Will I get an induction?

Yes, all students will be given an induction during the first week of teaching.

What will I study?

You will study two modules: English for Academic Purposes & Research Methods.

How will I be assessed?

In the final week, you will take part in a two-day time controlled assessment and this will be online. You will complete reading and listening tasks on the first day and writing and speaking tasks on the second day.

I want to go to a university which isn’t part of the NCUK group, can I still join the course?

Yes, contact us. There might be an alternative course available within the NCUK universities which is suitable or the university you would like to go to might accept the NCUK Pre-Master’s Programme. If you let us know, we can try to help you.

Will lessons be online or face to face?

This course will be delivered online.

I don’t think I’m ready to join the course just yet, do you have any other programmes?

Yes, we have a year-round programme which starts in September.
