From introvert to expert: OET speaking success

Since starting to run OET Celtic has helped many students prepare to sit the test. Below you can read about how one of our students went from introvert to expert as he writes about his OET speaking success.

Dr Ansari was concerned about his speaking skills more than anything. Below he outlines how he went from being an introvert to an expert and how he eventually succeeded in OET speaking.

A letter to Celtic

“I am writing this to thank you and convey gratitude for the help […] Celtic academy played in my success in OET exam. I am pleased to inform you that I have passed OET exam with flying colours. I would like to especially thank my teacher, Andrew, who played a pivotal role in my success.

I am Dr Ateek, an Indian doctor working in New Delhi India for the last 5 years. However recently I planned to move to the UK. The first requirement for working in the UK is to get a required mark in English. After English, there is a couple of medical competency exam which helps in getting registered with GMC.

IELTS or OET?

I have given IELTS exams thrice but couldn’t achieve 7.5 just because of my lower marks in speaking. Then I evaluated myself and realised that OET speaking would be easier for me, as a speaking topic in OET is easier for a medical professional compare to IELTS topic (usually an abstract topic). Thats how I decided on OET. I gave OET thinking that I have experience in practising medicine for so long I will clear it but again speaking brought me despair.

This time I was serious I didn’t want to take any chance, so I did my research and found that Celtic English is the best for my need. I chose to take classes for a week after having a discussion with Melissa.

My time at Celtic

I have always been a shy and introvert person, so speaking was my weakest part as I mentioned earlier. Andrew tailor-made his classes for me. I never felt awkward in his class. He trained me in such a way that I was not hesitant about whatever role play came in the exam. You can understand the amount of progress I made in my preparation that the highest marks have been scored by me is in speaking.

I will definitely recommend all my friends to attend Celtic English Academy. Thank you for your support and guidance.
