Do you want to explore a Winter Wonderland here in the UK? Christmas is coming so we thought we’d put together a list of five Christmas markets for you to visit this winter.
Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland
The very first of our top five Christmas Markets for you to visit this winter is right on our doorstep! From the 8th of November until the 5th of January you can explore Cardiff’s wonderland and all it has to offer. Winter Wonderland is based on City Hall Lawns, just a few minutes walk from the school. Cardiff’s wonderland provides thrills and excitement for all including ice skating, food, drink, fairground rides and games. After that why not look in some of the market stalls spread across the city? Because everyone loves handmade gifts! You’re sure to find something for everyone.
London’s Winter Wonderland
If you’re taking a trip to ‘The Big Smoke’ this Christmas, make sure you visit Hyde Park. Opening from the 21st of November London’s Christmas Market is home to hundreds of attractions, rides, shows, stalls and bars! Whether you have young children who want to visit the Magical Ice Kingdom, or you simply want to indulge in fine food and drink at the Ice Bar, Hyde Park will certainly cater for you with a backdrop of beautiful Christmas lights.
The Heritage city of Bath offers a vast range of Christmas treats during the festive period. With plenty of market stalls, Bath is sure to inspire you for your Christmas shopping. The market pledges to ban single-use plastics this year, contributing to a better, greener, future for all. Bath Christmas market isn’t around for long – opening on the 28th of November and closing on the 15th of December it’s status as “award-winning” brings thousands of people each year.
Find the markets by catching a train from Cardiff to Bath Spa Railway station (Just 65 minutes) and take the short walk into town.
Slightly smaller but still holding its own, Bristol offers a traditional German Christmas market. Amongst the hustle of the busy city you’ll find 45 unique stalls to find gifts. From Sunday the 2nd of December to Tuesday 24th of December Santa will open a door to the Advent Calendar at 4 pm providing free gifts to lucky children. Try some Bavarian Curling – but don’t forget your winter shoes! Sit down on heated seats to enjoy traditional German food and drink or take it with you while you wander!
Have you been on one of our social activity trips to Oxford and loved it? Why not head back for Oxford’s historic Broad Street which hosts Oxford’s Christmas market from the 5th of December to the 21st of December. Listen to choirs singing Christmas carols as you explore the handmade gifts, street food vendors and local produce. Travel to Oxford easily by Rail, by National Express or drive and use one of the five Park and Rides outside of the city.
