The leaves are falling, the ground is wet and the summer events here in Wales now feel like a fading memory. Winter is coming! 

With the cold season just around the corner it must be time to spend our weekends curled up on the sofa in pajamas watching movies and drinking hot chocolate right? Wrong, winter in Wales is stacked high with amazing things to see and do and one of those spectacles is the Wales Rally GB, which is the UK leg of the World Rally Championships (WRC). The WRC this year will take place in Mid to North Wales on 12th – 15th November 2015.

The World Rally Championships (WRC) only takes place in 13 countries each year and Wales is one of these chosen locations. Due to the diversity of the stages through forestry and mountains in Wales, it plays its part in the Championship among terrains from tarmac and gravel to snow and desert stages in all corners of the Globe. Not only is the Wales Rally GB a favorite among competing rally drivers, the Championship actually concludes and the World Champion crowned in Wales every year.

Cutting edge, purpose built 4wd works rally cars, bang, spit flames and roar through the breathtaking backdrop of Wales at mind blowing speeds. Crowds trudge through the mud and forestry in waterproofs and wellies to remote and spectator stages to cheer for their favorite driver and manufacturer teams. It doesnt matter what the weather is like, once the stage is live the smell, sound and atmosphere is magical.

Wales Rally GB takes place over three days of competition and each day is divided into a number of ‘Special Stages’ which are when the drivers race against the clock for the fastest time. For the rest of the event they have to follow a pre-set schedule on normal public roads to get them to the next check point on time. Wales Rally GB is organised and promoted by International Motor Sports Ltd (IMS), the commercial arm of the Motor Sports Association, the governing body of UK motor sport.

Branded as Wales Rally GB since 2003 when the Welsh Government became the principal funding partner, the rally has been based in Swansea and Cardiff and id currently based out of a central Service Park in Deeside with competitive stages throughout north and mid Wales. It was awarded the Best Event ( Large) accolade at the National Tourism Awards for Wales 2015.

We have published this blog three weeks in advance of the WRC give you time to plan for accommodation and tickets etc, as they may need to be booked in advance to witness this very popular and spectacular event in the Wales Tourism calendar. This event cannot fail to impress even complete newcomers to this exciting mortorsport and for true Motorsport enthusiasts it is a must.
