Did you know that it was ‘International Day of the Girl’?

16th October 2016

This year’s International Day of the Girl took place on the 11th of October. The UN chose the theme: Girls’ Progress = Goals’ Progress: What Counts for Girls. Their ethos is that empowering and educating girls will improve communities at large.

We at Celtic English Academy hold the same belief that equality in education is the key to opening doors, raising awareness of other cultures and hopefully engendering a more open and understanding society.

Every year 1000 people from all over the world are welcomed into our academy to learn English and we are proud of the fact that approximately 50% are male and 50% are female. We encourage raising awareness of the challenges and opportunities faced by other cultures, genders and generations and champion an open space where all our students can benefit from an intercultural environment.

As well as helping those students who have been lucky enough to come to us in Wales, we have also looked to support those who couldn’t make the journey; in fact we have funded scholarships for 3 girls to continue their studies in Sri Lanka. We even currently have a High School teacher on scholarship with us from Thailand. She is improving her English for the classroom.

We hope we can help you on your journey too!
