Saturday was yet another great day to remember for Celtic English Academy students as our bus made its way through the rolling mountains of Brecon and quaint Welsh villages to visit (CAT) Centre of Alternative Technology.
CAT is based on a remote hillside North of Machynlleth, Powys situated in Mid Wales approx 2.5 hours from Cardiff. With alarms set for an early start and lunch boxes at the ready we set off on an unforgettable road trip through the classic Welsh countryside for a fantastic visit to this incredible centre.
CAT is an education and visitor centre demonstrating practical solutions for sustainability. They cover all aspects of green living: environmental building, eco-sanitation, woodland management, renewable energy, energy efficiency and organic growing.
Our visit demonstrated some fascinating information of ways of reducing our own day to day consumption and waste and also the bigger picture in terms of environmental issues and what needs to be done to protect our Planet in the future. With interactive displays and workshops, our students learened a lot and had a really great day.
