In light of the current global situation, we have decided to launch Camp Change Makers, a unique online summer programme for young learners that is low-cost, low-carbon and will transport young minds on a journey far beyond home this summer.
The 1-5 week camp, starting from July 13th, combines 4 hours of language tuition, 2 hours of supervised activity and up to 2 hours of self-led activity, with a KiwiCo activity box per week.
Camp Change Makers allows students aged 10 – 17 to improve their English whilst thinking BIG – exploring key global issues in the virtual classroom like climate change, gender equality, health and well-being. Lesson content is based on the themes of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the spirit of the Welsh Government’s Future Generation’s Act. Wales led the way as the first country in the world to announce an act of this kind in 2015.
Affiliate partners KiwiCo will supply educational arts and STEM activity boxes and resources directly to students, challenging them to explore solutions-based thinking by activating their natural ability to be innovative and creative, all in the medium of the English language.
Here’s what Shoko, CEO said “In the absence of the ability to travel, interact with their peers and engage with formal education, young people are in need of a programme that offers them the ability to re-engage with learning, re-connect with others and re-focus their time in ways that are beneficial to their present wellbeing and future success.
Camp Change Makers not only supports young learners with their linguistic development, it improves their awareness of current world issues and develops their interpersonal skills as global citizens. For this reason, it is also highly beneficial to UK children who have experienced a significant disruption to their education due to COVID-19 and we will be inviting them to join young learners from around this world in our programme”.
Shoko added, “We wanted to replicate as much of our traditional summer programme experience as possible, and our partnership with KiwiCo allows us to continue to provide a tangible, quality activity programme for young learners”.
Box delivery is possible for primarily European countries, with some in Asia, and other countries can join the standard programme with KiwiCo self-guided tutorials and a list of items that can easily be found at home or gathered during the weekly shop.
